Lahore: 16 December 2021: A genocide was committed against our fellow countrymen/women in the then East Pakistan from 25th March to 16 December 1971 when Pakistan Army preferred to surrender before an Indian General Aurora, rather than submit to the democratic will of the people and conceded their right to self-determination. The valiant Bengalis won their War of Liberation at an unprecedented human cost and enormous destruction and proclaimed their separate nationhood– Bangladesh. We, the progressive people of Pakistan, as a nation owe an unconditional apology to them and yet to punish those who committed crimes against humanity. It is ironic and tragic that, instead of drawing any lessons, a neo-colonial authoritarian state remains on the same stupid path of colonizing and brutalizing the indigenous peoples of Pakistan and is still adamant to rationally change its self-defeating authoritarian and militaristic course and submit to the will of and the right to self-determination of the peoples of Pakistan. We the conscientious people of Pakistan unconditionally apologise to the people of Bangladesh and congratulate them on their 50th Anniversary of their Day of Deliverance from tyranny and Freedom. We wish them great progress, peace, and stability.
